COPA AMERICA 2021: FIRMINO SCORED AS BRAZIL REMAINS UNBEATEN
24th June – Brazil remains unbeaten in Copa America 2021 after defeating Colombia 2 – 1 in Rio. Two goals from Roberto Firmino and Casemiro secured Brazil the top position in Group A.
However, Brazil had to trail Colombia for almost 70 minutes in their third Copa America 2021 match after a tunning half bicyle kick goal from L.Diaz in the 10th minute of the game from a cross from Cuadrado.
After that, Brazil control most of the possession in searching for the equaliser. In the second half, Tito replaced Everton Ribeiro with Roberto Firmino to strengthen the Brazilian forward play. The Liverpool no. 9 almost assist Neymar with a clever pass into the penalty box before Neymar hit the left post of Ospina.
The Colombians remained compact as Brazil continously launched the attacks with Neymar, Gabriel Jesus, Richarlison and Firmino upfront. As the goal was not coming, Tito brought in Gabriel Barbosa and Everton Soares to replaced Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus.
The plan had worked out as the header from Firmino was failed to be caught neatly by Ospina after 68 minutes of the game. The goal prolong Brazil unbeaten record in Copa America 2021 and changed the atmosphere of the game.
As the match was nearly ended as a first Brazil’s draw in Copa America 2021, Casemiro was unmarked before heading home Brazil winning goal at stoppage time.
Copa America 2021 is participated by 10 countries and divided by two groups. Beside Brazil and Colombia, Group A also including Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. In Group B, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay are competing for the slots to quarter final. The next match for Brazil in Copa America 2021 will be held on 28th June 2021.
