Liverpool failed to lift English Premier League this season (2020/2021) Why?Lets discuss about it

Liverpool managed to win the English Premier League last season after playing only 31 out of 38 games of the season. So, all die hard fans aorund the world were expecting The Reds will continue lifting the trophy for season 2020/2021. Unfortunately, as a reigning champion, they failed to defense the tittle and lost it to Manchester City. It is worse as Liverpool arch rival, Manchester United finished second in the tittle race.

Van Dijk Injury

The main problem of Liverpool first eleven was the absence of one of the best defenders in the world, Virgil Van Dijk. Without him, The Reds defense were quite vulnerable and there was no leader in defense as what virgil does when he is on the pitch. Although Klopp try several combinations including bringing a couple of new defenders to make things better, the combinations did not work and thats it, even Liverpool still scoring, they also allowed too many goals past them.

More time for Thiago

The arrival of Thiago should bring more options to Klopp in the centre of the pitch. However, we have to give Thiago more time to adapt with Liverpool playing style which is more aggressive and requires more pace than Bayern Munich. Hope Thiago, Hendo and Fabinho will be a better trio next season.

Aging Hendo
Well, Hendo is a fantastic player, but to survive in running feast of EPL playing style, he maybe a little bit slow for that. We still relying on his experience and pass to make things smooth in the middle for Liverpool, but we have to make sure he is connecting well with Thiago and Fabinho.

Opponents have been studied Sadio, Salah and Firmino playing style.

These trio are extremely dangerous to all opponents and they are the key for Liverpool triumph. However, we can witness that the opponents apply 3 approaches to neutralize the trio. First, make sure Sadio cant shoot with his right foot and always stay in front of him before he makes he run. Same goes to Salah but this time watch the left side. As for Firmino, dont make him too comfortable with ball. Make sure he get the pressure before he can think what to do with the ball. So far although the tactics were not 100% effective to stop them from scoring, well, it reduce the numbers, and guess what happened when in the same time
Liverpool was vulnerable at the back due to Virgil’s absence? U do the math.

As the die hard fan of Liverpool since Ian Rush, Stan and Paul Ince. I hope the reds will do better next season. You Will Never Walk Alone
